How It’s Made
The purpose of this page is to visually illustrate just a few of the steps required to hand make a Marzitelli Custom Knife. I perform the operations in my shop starting with raw materials and build from there.
I design, draw, cut, shape and grind all of the various components of each knife. This process also includes heat treatment and hardness testing.
For small runs of knives I hand cut and grind the profile of each knife as shown in the photos. For my standard models and large runs of knives and limited editions I employ waterjet cutting for the sake of ecomomy.
On average there are approximately 100 steps performed in making a standard Marz knife.
